COGNITION
WHAT IS COGNITION?

Cognition refers to our mental processes. This includes our ability to attend, learn, think/reason, plan, sequence, and recall information. Many people often associate cognitive decline with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias; however, it can also accompany other neurological diseases, as well as traumatic brain injury and aging. The CDC reports the prevalence of subjective cognitive decline to be 11.1%, or 1 in 9 adults. This may have serious implications on an individual’s livelihood and/or safety.
